SNB Collects Over 230 Items for Wayne Coat Closet

December 1, 2021 – SNB’s first winter coat drive was a big success!  The bank collected over 230 items of winter clothing for the Wayne Coat Closet. This donation included $500 of newly purchased winter clothes thanks to a special #500forGood grant from FHLBank Topeka, which asked banks how they would use $500 to improve their community. After being selected as one of 26 grant recipients in a four-state region, SNB employees Kirby Hall, Liz Onderstal and Kaki Ley used the $500 to shop locally in Wayne and buy 14 coats, 8 pairs of snow boots, and 4 snow pants, all in children’s sizes.

The Wayne Coat Closet is run by the First Presbyterian Church at 216 West Third Street in Wayne, with Pastor Teresa Bartlett overseeing the volunteers who sort and organize clothing. “We are so thankful for all these donations, especially now with the colder temps and a need to build up our inventory,” said Pastor Bartlett. Wayne County residents may use the Wayne Coat Closet by scheduling an appointment.  Call the Wayne Coat Closet at (402) 375-2669 or visit www.fpcwayne.comfor more info.
