Investing in educating is an investment in the future. That’s why State Nebraska Bank & Trust has proudly supported scholarships for our community’s students as they prepare for their own future through a college education. SNB donates over $18,000 in scholarships each year to talented and aspiring young leaders.
Every year, SNB provides one year’s worth of tuition at Wayne State College to three outstanding seniors at Wayne High School through the SNB Community Scholarship. These scholarships help continue the education of Wayne’s students toward a bright future.
This has been a long tradition of investing in the future of our community’s youth. For more than 50 years, SNB has been providing scholarship to students at Wayne State College.
Here are some of our most recent recipients:
Established in 2018, the State Nebraska Bank & Trust FFA Scholarship recognizes two graduating seniors in FFA (Future Farmers of America) at Wayne High School who plan to study and have a career in agriculture. Recipients must demonstrate character, leadership, respect and work ethic in all aspects of life, living out the FFA Motto of “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve.”
The scholarships are awarded at the Wayne FFA Banquet in the spring. Scholarship recipients receive $1,000 each for their college education.
Congratulations to our recipients:
Started in 2018 as an endowment, the scholarship for $1,000 is awarded to a member of the Wayne State College Women’s Soccer team who is also a resident of Nebraska. In 2020, student athlete Madison Craig received our first scholarship. SNB recognizes the value student athletes bring to our community and the commitment they make to their education both on and off the field.
SNB provides a $500 scholarship at Wayne State College to an incoming freshman majoring in business.
In 2019, SNB started an endowment of $25,000 to support the Wayne State College Baseball team with an annual scholarship of $1,000. The first scholarship will be awarded in the 2021-22 school year to a member of the baseball team who is also a resident of Nebraska.
Starting with an endowment of $30,000 in 2017, SNB provides a yearly scholarship to a Wayne High School graduate pursuing a major in the College of Business at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Our first recipient was WHS grad Lathan Ellis, UNL Class of 2021, who received our scholarship of $500.
