CEO Matt Ley is Wayne’s Citizen of the Year
April 7, 2024 – SNB CEO Matt Ley was honored as Wayne’s Citizen of the Year at the annual spring chamber banquet hosted by Wayne America, Inc., formerly known as Wayne Area Economic Development/Chamber.
Matt has been CEO of State Nebraska Bank & Trust since 2010. He joined as the 5th generation in his family to run the locally-owned, family-owned bank, continuing a long tradition of bankers in the Ley family.
Since becoming bank CEO, Matt invested in programs to benefit the community, such as an in-school bank at Wayne Elementary, the Blue Devil Branch, to help youth become lifelong savers; the Main Street Vinyl grant program for $500 in vinyl window graphics to Wayne businesses; and the SNBuilding Gym, a free gym space for community members to play basketball and pickleball, or host events.
As a strong believer in giving back to the community, Matt encourages all bank employees to volunteer and leads by example. He is a Trustee and Executive Committee member of the Wayne State College Foundation, a board member of Wayne Athletic Boosters, and a frequent coach for youth basketball. He is also treasurer of the Providence Medical Center Board and on the PMC Foundation Board.
A graduate of Wayne High School, Matt regularly played basketball in the annual alumni tournament for the Wayne Community Schools Foundation, and survived two major injuries while doing so. He is also a graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where his son will start this fall.
We congratulate our CEO on this special recognition of his contributions to our community, our customers, and our employees in Wayne America!
