Blue Devil Branch Students Save $7,800 this year!
May 26, 2023 – Our Blue Devil Branch had great success this year: students made over 1,900 deposits and saved $7,800—the most ever in our program’s history. 51% of the student population has a savings account at school. Students also earned over 500 fun incentives, like bookmarks, coupons, and school supplies, provided by SNB.
Last month, SNB took 22 tellers from its Blue Devil Branch to Omaha for a year-end celebration. The trip included a tour of the Omaha branch of the Kansas City Federal Reserve, and a presentation of certificates to the tellers. Sixth grader Araya Tentinger received this year’s Stellar Teller award, representing the one teller who provided the best customer service, showed up on time, always offered to help, promoted the Blue Devil Branch to others, and encouraged students to save.
Our Blue Devil Branch is part of a statewide effort led by the Nebraska Council on Economic Education to teach financial literacy to youth. In four years of operation, 350 Wayne Elementary students have saved over $27,000 through this in-school savings program.Congrats to all these students on their great job saving!
