Blue Devil Branch Students save $5,000 this year
May 20, 2021 – The State Nebraska Bank & Trust Blue Devil Branch was a great success this past year: 186 students opened accounts, made 834 deposits, and saved $5,000! 41% of our school population is actively saving for the future, and the number is growing each year. Students also earned over 300 fun incentives, like bookmarks, coupons, and school supplies.
Great job to all the students who saved and to the twenty-four 5th & 6th grade tellers who worked at the branch each week. Sixth grader Caylie Hopkins was chosen as the Stellar Teller of the year. Congrats Caylie! We also congratulate Mrs. Janke’s 6th graders for having the highest percentage of depositors in March and April to win the honor of Super Savers, followed by Mrs. Rockhill’s kindergarten class in February.
Thank you to our partners, Wayne Elementary School, Wayne State College, and the Nebraska Council on Economic Education for supporting the effort to teach financial literacy to youth and provide students an opportunity to learn how banks work and become savers themselves.
